KHAJURAHO
|
Situated in the heart of central India,
in the state of Madhya Pradesh,
Khajuraho is a fascinating village with a quaint,
rural ambience and a rich cultural heritage,
honored by the world as a unique contribution of
India to human civilization.
|
|
Eighty-five temples were built here by the Chandela dynasty of which
Twenty-six remain as embodiments of Indian Architectural and sculptural art
at its most evolved state. Even ten centuries after they were constructed
the temples of Khajuraho reflect an eternal philosophy relevant to all mankind.
The temples are elaborately covered with erotic statues. These temples were built
by Tantric Masters, who instruct their disciples to meditate on the statues.
These sculptures are not just to see, they are for meditation, sit silently
and meditate for hours. So one can meditate on each possible inner posture of
orgasmic joy,and then slowly slowly the at-onement, the Harmony and then
suddenly you are transported into another world- the world of these mystics
who created these temples.
|
The temples are world heritage site
and belong not just to India
but to the world.
